New Delhi, September 1: Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani today announced the launch of Reliance Jio 4G SIM service from September 5 onwards. Mukesh Ambani called the company’s 4G LTE network – Jio – the biggest startup in the world with US $20 billion investment.
At the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Reliance IndustriesLimited (RIL), Mukesh Ambani said that Reliance Jio SIM would offer free voice services to its active users, what could be said as the worst nightmare for Bharati Airtel, the current market leader. Mukesh Ambani also made an announcement thatJio data tariff will be as low as Rs 50/GB, which will start a tariff war among leading telecom service providers.
1) All Jio services free till December 31, 2016
From Monday, September 5, Reliance Jio’s entire bouquet of apps and services (including data and voice) will be absolutely free to everyone in the country.
2) Reliance Jio offers free voice calls
After the launch of Reliance Jio, voice calls will be absolutely free for its users and there will be no hidden charges.
3) Reliance Jio offers nationwide roaming free for its users
For cellphone users who travel a lot then there is a good news for them. On Thursday Mukesh Ambani cleared that there will be no roaming charges for Reliance Jio customers. Which means that a user who faces an additional burden of roaming charges can enjoy their travelling with no more additional expenses.
4) Reliance Jio offers tariff plans from Rs 19
On Thursday Mukesh Ambani disclosed that Reliance Jio 4G will offer 10 tariff plans starting at Rs 19 a day for occasional users, Rs 149 a month for low data users and Rs 4,999 a month for excessive data users.
5) Reliance offers base tariff at 1/10th of other telecom operators
The base 4G LTE data rate on JIO network will be 1/10th of other players – at Rs 50 per GB – lowest in the world. It offers – Rs 499 for 4GB, Rs 999 for 10 GB, Rs 1499 for 20 GB, Rs 2499 for 35 GB, RS 3999 for Rs 60 GB, Rs 4999 for 75 GB. Also, every plan comes with unlimited 4G night usage, excepts the basic plan, with the validity of 28 days.
6) Reliance also offers 4G smartphone starting at Rs 2,999
Cellphone users no need to shell out a huge amount to buy 4G smartphones. The company has announced new 4G smartphones starting at Rs 2,999 under its Lyf brand.
7) Reliance Jio offers special student discounts
Under a special student discount scheme, Reliance Jio offers students to get 25% more data on producing a valid student identity card.
8) Reliance Jio offers peak downloading speed of up to 135 MBPS
Reliance Jio aims to offer customers a huge downloading speed of up to 135 MBPS on Jio network. Though it is still not clear whether this service will be available in metro cities as well as rural areas.

Reliance Jio network not only supports 4G network but is also ready for 5G and 6G too. By the launch of Reliance Jio 4G service, the Reliance Jio Infocomm will become the world’s biggest startup with an incvestment of Rs 1,50,000 crore.
